Maybe it's time to reflect on who you ALLOW power over you!

When your head is down and you are focused on where you are heading you forget where you are going and have become. People in our lives are there to remind us of who we are and what we have accomplished. Ten years ago I was introduced to an incredible woman who would become my mentor, friend and sister in christ. She is one of a few who have had a behind the scenes seat to my growth since 2014. The behind the scenes were not cool like the tour at Disney World, but were messy and hard. Stumbling through sobriety and searching for love in all the wrong beds became the undertone of my twenties. In those years I could see who I wanted to be, but couldn’t find my way there. My friend Danielle Pearson saw past the mess and focused on who I had the privilege to become.

It is not a normal daily activity to ask people what they think about you. Let’s be honest, we don’t always want to know. Plus is it just me or do you think that people remember all of these “not so great” moments. During my interviews on The Brittany Wheeler Show I ask people to tell a story of how we met or about me. Everytime I am interviewing a guest (35 episodes later) I am still humbled by the lens that people see me in. My view of myself is so harsh and critical. I go to the worst I have done or said and my guests share the exact opposites. It was during Danielle’s interview that she blew me away with the truth into the Brittany Wheeler she saw. I watched the interview back while I was editing and I realized how blessed I am to have someone who could see so clearly what I couldn’t. Then ten years later to have her share from her own heart and lips what she saw in me, it was overwhelming.

“Even back then 10 years ago, and the less mature Brittany Wheeler…I knew even then there was a spark in your eye and your heart and a passion to pour into people and add value and bring love and joy to people. So I knew there was something exceptionally special about you.”

Who are you surrounding yourself with? Are they breathing truth and life into you or are they tearing you down? Do you feel empowered to become more and give more and be more? Or do they make you feel defeated even more than you already are?

Maybe it's time to reflect on who you ALLOW that power over you.
